Case Study: Conceiving

The garden of the world has no limits, except in your mind.
— Rumi

A client I worked with recently came to me feeling really stressed, frustrated, and weighed down with obsessive thoughts about trying to conceive. This client, an accomplished medical doctor and professor with a lot on her plate, had been trying without success to conceive for about a year. She also already knew more than most from a medical perspective given her profession and felt like she was doing everything she could without results.

We had a few sessions together to address these feelings at an unconscious level, and during that time she was able to tap into a state of peace underneath all the stress she’d been feeling.

Shortly thereafter, the most amazing thing happened…

She conceived!

When we do inner work, much of it is about shifting our inner relationship with what’s happening in life. As we do this, we realize what we’re striving for is not really about achieving a goal but rather about being able to be okay no matter what comes our way. In this example, we focused on feeling better about her situation and feeling at peace regardless of what happens in this part of her life.

While tending to our inner landscape has no guarantees on external outcomes, we often see remarkable and surprising shifts in all aspects of life, including the area of health and the human body given the mind-body connection.
